Introduction to HS Literature Learn to appreciate and interpret good literature in light of Biblical truth. Description Students will learn the method and importance of literary analysis by studying novels, short stories, and poems from different time periods and in different genres. Our goal will be to appreciate and interpret them in light of Biblical truth. Class time includes discussion of the books we are reading, introduction of literary terms, and group activities. Manage pricing so that all costs are covered. (We want to break even from costs.) Print out sign-up sheets for front desks three weeks out. Pick up drinks and sides, getting best pricing. Two weeks given for sign up. Collect the orders and place order for food one week prior with the restaurant. (Order a little extra to sell the day of.) Pick up the food the day of and bring to KDO. Distribute all food, making sure the students get the correct order. Clean up and return any hot transfer bags from the restaurant. Compensation Receive $25 for each lunch special served. Physics Introductory physics class, but will adequately prepare students for college level physics. Description Using Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Physics, students will study the science of physics. This course is designed as an introductory physics class, but will adequately prepare students for college level physics. Because the science of physics is an attempt to explain everything that is observed in nature, this text is an overview of the advances made over the last three thousand years! While that may seem like a monumental task, we’ll break the content down and work through it piece-by-piece. We will take two weeks to cover each module, and labs will be done in class each week. Homework will include reading, on-your-own problems, practice problems and review questions. Tests will be taken at home, and lab reports or lab worksheets will be assigned as well. Physical Science Introduces basic concepts from chemistry and physics and preparation for upper-level sciences. Description Physical Science introduces basic concepts from chemistry and physics, providing excellent preparation for upper-level biology, chemistry and physics classes. Class time is divided into one hour of interactive lecture and one hour of interactive lab time with hands-on experimentation. Students will grow as they develop critical thinking, science vocabulary and formal writing skills working on lab reports. This course has two major projects: a science fair first semester and a debate second semester.
