Offering Christ-Centered Academics to support Homeschool Families, Kindergarten through Grade 12

Physics

Introductory physics class, but will adequately prepare students for college level physics.

Description

Using Apologia’s Exploring Creation with Physics, students will study the science of physics. This course is designed as an introductory physics class, but will adequately prepare students for college level physics. Because the science of physics is an attempt to explain everything that is observed in nature, this text is an overview of the advances made over the last three thousand years! While that may seem like a monumental task, we’ll break the content down and work through it piece-by-piece. We will take two weeks to cover each module, and labs will be done in class each week. Homework will include reading, on-your-own problems, practice problems and review questions. Tests will be taken at home, and lab reports or lab worksheets will be assigned as well. When they are finished with the course, students will be able to do things such as: -Relate Velocity, Acceleration, Time, and Displacement -Use Mathematical Equations for One-Dimensional Motion -Understand and apply Newton’s Laws -Be able to see the strong connection between math and science Some important concepts covered in Apologia’s high school physics include, but aren’t limited to: One and two-dimensional motion Newton’s laws and their applications in nature Work and energy Electricity Magnetism Momentum Periodic motion Waves Optics
