Life at KDO

Where Learning and Community Meet

A Glimpse Into Life at KDO

Being a student at KDO Academy is about so much more than classes.

Ask almost anyone who’s been part of KDO long enough, and you’ll hear stories like:

“All my best friends came from KDO.”
“I felt safe here.”
“People talked to me on the first day.”

KDO is the kind of place that stays with you.

Student Life

From the very first day, KDO feels different. Teachers notice you. You’re not just sitting quietly in a room—you’re participating, engaging, and being encouraged to think for yourself.

Classes are structured and purposeful and the environment is relaxed and supportive. You’re encouraged to ask questions, try new things, and grow at your own pace. Whether you’re outgoing or quiet, confident or still figuring things out, there’s space for you here.

From your very first day, you’re not just another student — you’re part of the KDO community.

Elementary Life at KDO

For elementary students, KDO is full of energy, creativity, and hands-on learning. Lessons come to life through projects, group activities, games, and special theme days. Kids get to move, build, explore, and create—while making friends and learning how to work together.

A Day at KDO might include:

  • Group games and hands-on activities

  • Creative projects and presentations

  • Special theme days

  • Learning about new cultures, places, and ideas

  • Making friends across grades

  • Teachers who cheer you on and help you grow

KDO grows with you

Bridge & High School at KDO

Students move between classes, manage their schedules, and learn how to balance expectations while still having time to connect with friends. There are interactive lessons like simulating a Presidential election from start to finish, dissecting specimens, including flowers, crayfish, and other animal organs, science fairs, debates, practical math application projects, computer coding, learning to change a tire through auto repair or learn how to professionally decorate a cake.

And yes—there are also special days that break up the routine -  special lunches, themed activities, and fun surprises that make Thursdays something students look forward to.

Special Days & Seasonal Activities

Throughout the year, KDO offers themed days, community moments, and opportunities for students to connect. From holiday themes to community-building fun, these small traditions create a memorable student experience.

Monthly Lunch Specials & Weekly Snack Cart

Once a month, students may purchase a special lunch (Chick-fil-A, pizza, subs, etc.). There is also a weekly snack cart with a variety of treats, adding a fun element to the day (students must still pack their regular lunch).

Transcript-Ready Courses

Most High School classes count toward official transcript credits for graduation. Parents can confidently document coursework knowing KDO Academy provides reliable grading, structure, and academic support.

Teachers Who Actually Care

One of the most common things students say about KDO is simple: the teachers care. They’re approachable, kind, and genuinely invested in helping you learn. They explain things clearly, encourage questions, and want you to do well—not just in class, but as a person.

You’re not just another name on a roster here.

Friendships that Last

KDO is a place where friendships form easily and often last long after graduation. Students grow socially, learn to interact with different people, and feel comfortable being themselves. It’s a community where connection comes naturally—and where memories are made.

Some students come for the classes. Most stay for the people.

"When I dropped my student off this morning, she told me her friends were already exclaiming over her project and had told her they were proud of her.

As you can tell, she has loving and supportive friends at KDO. Having structure, creative outlets, and good people around my daughter truly makes it possible for us to homeschool well."
