Our Academic Approach

Parents remain the primary educators...

...but KDO provides the lesson plans, classroom instruction, daily assignments, and grading—making the homeschool journey lighter and more manageable during these demanding years.

From writing and research to math, science, history, languages, and electives, students gain the skills necessary for success after graduation while still learning from a biblical worldview.

Learning That Goes Further

KDO is a Foundation for Independence and Leadership

Bridge and High School classes meet every Thursday from 8:15 AM–2:30 PM, offering a structured, school-like environment that builds independence, accountability, and academic readiness. Students manage their own schedules, rotate through classes, and develop essential skills needed for graduation and beyond. Classes are A La Carte, students can take 1-5 classes depending on their goals!

KDO also offers meaningful leadership opportunities, including Student Council, leadership within the classroom, and FLY (Future Leaders of York) — a unique civic leadership program and KDO is the only homeschool program eligible to send a student each year.

Student Highlights

Bridge and High School students enjoy several unique benefits that enrich their experience at KDO.

Transcript-Ready Courses

Most High School classes count toward official transcript credits for graduation. Parents can confidently document coursework knowing KDO provides reliable grading, structure, and academic support.

Monthly Lunch Specials & Weekly Snack Cart

Once a month, students may purchase a special lunch (Chick-fil-A, pizza, subs, etc.). There is also a weekly snack cart with a variety of treats, adding a fun element to the day (students must still pack their regular lunch).

Special Days & Seasonal Activities

Throughout the year, KDO offers themed days, community moments, and opportunities for students to connect. From holiday themes to community-building fun, these small traditions create a memorable student experience.

Student Independence During Breaks

Bridge and High School students enjoy more freedom between classes, including time to socialize respectfully, prepare for upcoming coursework, or grab a snack.

Student Council

KDO’s Student Council gives teens a voice in shaping their school community. Council members help plan special events, support community initiatives, represent student ideas, and serve as leaders throughout the year.

Bound Yearbook

Students have the opportunity to purchase a yearbook they receive at the end of the academic year.  The meaningful keepsake captures the highlights, friendships, and special moments of the year.
