Bridge Literature
Students will discover the joy of sharing extraordinary literature with others.

Description
Have you ever heard it said that a good book can take you places? Come journey with us as we travel to fantasy worlds, distant continents, and new time periods. We will strive to go beyond the literal meaning of the words on the page and focus on such literary elements as plot development, characterization, theme, mood, symbolism, and the like. Various learning activities and vocabulary study will complement each of the following books: The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, The Mythmakers: The Remarkable Fellowship of C.S. Lewis & J.R.R Tolkien (A Graphic Novel) by John Hendrix, The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis, and The Cay by Theodore Taylor.
