American Literature
Students will read and discuss classic works of American literature.

Description
The student will read classic works of American literature. The literature will include novels, short stories, poems, and biographies. Emphasis is placed on how the literature reflects the cultural setting in which the work is set, with special consideration for biblical truth. This course is taught chronologically and pairs well with a study of American History. Class time includes book discussion, review of literary terms, and small group activities. The student will complete quarterly essays and tests. Each student will give a presentation on an author they choose at the beginning of the year. Reading notes for each chapter are required as homework.
